Due to heightened levels of underwater noise associated with piling works for the new bridge project, waters around the bridge will be closed to swimmers and ‘passive craft’ that have a potential to capsize, such as stand-up paddle boards, surfboards, kayaks and canoes.

The closure will be in place during standard working hours, from Monday to Saturday 7am to 7pm. The closure is to ensure members of the public are not exposed to high noise levels that are amplified underwater. Other craft will continue to be able to pass through the area.

The map shows the area of closure, which will be in place from 1 September 2024 – 1 September 2025. The area will be monitored by spotter vessels to ensure the zones are free of swimmers and marine mammals.
