Invitation for Expressions of Interest (closed) - proponents selected

Following an Expression of Interest from parties interested in developing and operating a dedicated automotive and Ro-Ro terminal under a long-term lease on Victoria Quay, WWL (Victoria Quay International RoRo Terminal) and AAT have been shortlisted to proceed to the Request for Proposal phase.

Background

Following robust growth over the past decade, trade volumes through the port are forecast to continue growing into the future, driven by Western Australia’s high-performing economy and fast-growing population, each of which are expanding at rates higher than those elsewhere within Australia.

The development of a dedicated terminal, which will handle all automotive and Ro-Ro trade moving through Fremantle Ports’ facilities, presents an outstanding opportunity to service this important and fast-growing market.

  • Long-term tenure is available over a 10ha site
  • The terminal will be serviced by two dedicated berths handling vessels of up to 265m in length
  • The port’s automotive and Ro-Ro trades have grown at average rates of 8.0% and 10.6% pa respectively over the past 10 years
  • Further strong growth is expected given Western Australia’s economy is the best performing, and its population the fastest growing in Australia, outperforming many developed nations.
