Ships in the Night artwork on port building
Fremantle Ports administration building is one of the sites for High Tide 17.

Over the course of a year, Fremantle artist Jo Darbyshire recorded the names of ships in the Fremantle Inner Harbour on her train ride to Perth.

These carefully selected names are being projected in a choreographed poem onto the northern façade of Fremantle Ports administration building on Victoria Quay at night.

The elegant artwork - Ships in the Night - lets the words speak for themselves.

The words move slowly across the facade of the building, referencing the movement of the ships as they slowly enter and leave the space of the harbour.

Ships in the Night is one of a number of site-responsive artworks in Fremantle's West End for High Tide 17.

Ships in the Night:

7pm-11pm on Thursdays to Sundays until 12 November. See the Victoria Quay Visitor Guide.
